Now is the time to join the spirit of RFK Jr to do what is right for the country, leaving behind the decaying influence of the Leftist Democratic leaders and striving for the whole purpose. We can discuss different views in a civil manner. It can be very enlightening for both sides.
Most democrats are wonderful people, but I have noticed that the leadership has gone far left with an ends justifies the means attitude.
Two countries have substantially reduced homelessness. Finland and Japan. The are strict about drug and alcohol use but compassionate and practical when it comes to housing and support services.
Our campaign is off to a good start. Door to door every day. Youtube ad has 8.0 k views in a 13 days.
Three events: One where I could share with fellow Republican leaders. Another where I met city council candidates in our area. We had good conversations and agree on some issues like homelessness, drugs, reaching across party lines, etc. One more next week.
From 1972 until today I have been a part time, volunteer pastor and missionary as a non denominational Christian working all over the US, with a stint in Beverly Hills, as well as various countries, including Egypt, Israel, Korea, and Japan.
My formal education spanned Cal State LA, Unification Theological Seminary, the University of Pittsburgh, and Swarthmore College, where I studied education, the Bible and World Religions, economics, and engineering.
When my four kids decided to move to Portland for more affordable housing and better schools for the grandkids, my wife and I moved to Portland to join them and we are loving it!
I ran for office in LA a few years ago to help balance the community, winning election to Assembly District 41, which includes Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley. 14 appointments by me were allowed and many volunteered - friends, former candidates, leaders of clubs, etc. Actually there were more than we could handle. District 41 which had been empty is now thriving. Check it out on line. A tide was rising and many other districts changed and the LAGOP leadership became more responsive to the rank and file.
The success in LA inspired me to affect similar changes here in Portland by studying, attending meetings, being active on social media, and running for PCP in an often contested district which is about 15% Republican, 40% Independent, and the rest Democrats.
Now I'm running for House District 46. These days people are voting out of their categories as the recent landslide loss of Mike Schmidt testifies. So we have a chance. But win or lose the pressure will be on the Democrats to keep it common sense and fair. Ultimately it's a chance to understand each other and work out practical solutions in a civil manner. I've had some great experiences with this by going door to door.
